Wisdom Tooth Log: Day #2

Well, I’ve made it over 24 hours. Last night was pretty bad. I wrote that journal entry and then the pain started to pick up very quickly. Very very quickly. It was incredibly bad, second only to when I broke my leg. Apparently, this is normal with any major surgery. You have a major surge of pain that, once tackled, is manageable. But before you knock it over with pain meds you’re in trouble. And I was in trouble. About two hours after medicating up it started to drop off and was manageable for the rest of the night.

I woke up twice in the night to take something for the pain. Today has been largely okay, however. Lots of blended foods, however tonight I had spaghetti (It was slow eating, but I managed). I’ve just been taking it easy for the most part. Christie and Ceci came over and made my day at about 12:30, bringing with them a mango smoothie and a break in the monotony of reading, checking my email, and sleeping. Seeing those two really made my day. :)

Speaking of which reading, I have to give some credit to Nate for introducing me to Atlas Shrugged, a wholly remarkable book. It is fantastic. Anyone who can read needs to read it. Anyone who can’t needs to fix that first and then start on Atlas Shrugged. Written as fiction, every element of the story is a metaphor for something. I love to read it, however I have to put it down now and then to digest what it’s saying, there is so much to process in that book it’s nuts.
