Endurance
Posted by admin on November 4th, 2008 filed in UncategorizedThe human body is a powerful instrument. With maintenance and training, it can perform at incredibly high intensities and is even burstable to higher performance when necessary. Aren’t we grateful for that, too? being able to work for over 20 hours end-to-end, rest briefly, and pick back up and keep going is an incredible gift. But, it comes at a price when leveraged for extended periods. As such, I’m going to curl up on this couch and not wake up for at least 30 minutes. I might make that 45, just so I don’t collapse from fatigue this afternoon. On the upshot, I’ll probably be in bed *before* 11 tonight. Won’t that be wonderful?
Of note, it’s missionary week this week and I’ve been wearing a suit and tie for the last two days. Nothing like writing a philosophy paper in a library surrounded by tomes of ancient knowledge while wearing snappy clothes. Oh, here’s a funny: Nate and I are beginning to get settled and crank out a paper. On an impulse, I pulled a black book off the shelf about child development. No dice: the subscript below the title on the cover (this wasn’t on the binding) was “Learning and ETHICS”. AAHHHH!! We both freaked out for about five minutes, since we keep seeing constant references to subjectivity, objectivity, and ethics in daily conversations and lectures. Frankly, it’s creepy. I’d best stop writing before I embarrass myself further.
